PRACTICE

Call the practice

There is always someone present in the practice on working days. If you call the practice number (see contact), you will generally get the assistant on the phone. She will help you further. To make appointments and request prescriptions, there are fixed times when you can call or leave a message on the prescription line. The telephone lines are used a lot and may be busy for longer. You help the assistant by keeping the conversation short and clear. If you call to make an appointment and the consultation hours for that day are fully booked, the assistant will ask you about the nature of your complaint. If it is urgent, she will make an appointment for you the same day. The assistant has enough experience and instructions from the doctor to assess the urgent nature of your question. If necessary, she will consult with the GP.

Operations & Research

You can make an appointment with the assistant for a number of procedures. In principle you can come here every afternoon. These procedures include giving injections and vaccinations, urine testing, removing sutures, ear syringing, ECG, nitrogen treatment of warts, checking diabetes and blood pressure and hearing function examination.

Assistant

The assistant makes appointments for consultation hours and home visits. She knows the answers to many practical questions, for example about referrals and recipes. You can also call her for results and repeat prescriptions.
